died of Covid-19 in December 2020

Human Rights Report:
The documentation section of
Bangladesh Human Rights Commission-BHRC and
International Human Rights Commission-IHRC jointly
furnished this human rights survey report on the
basis of daily newspapers and information received
from its district, sub-district and municipal
branches. BHRC survey found a total of 50 deaths in
the killings. According to official figures, 915
people died of the Covid19 in all over the country.
It proves that the law and order situation is not
satisfactory. Bangladesh Human Rights Commissions
extremely anxious about this situation. In December
2020, there were an average of 29 Covid19 deaths and
2 deaths in killing per day.
The Law enforcing agencies and related Govt.
departments should be more responsible so that
percentage of killing May be brought down to zero
level. To institutionalize the democracy and to
build human rights based society the rule of law and
order must be established everywhere. Through
enforcing rule of law only such violation against
human rights can be minimized.

Coordination Meeting of Bangladesh Human Rights
Commission-BHRC on the occasion of 72nd World Human
Rights Day On the occasion of the celebration of the
72nd World Human Rights Day on 10 December 2020, a
coordination meeting was held at the headquarters of
the Bangladesh Human Rights Commission-BHRC on 4
December 2020 at 3 pm at the headquarters of BHRC.
The coordination meeting was presided over by
Akhtaruzzaman Babul, President, BHRC Dhaka Division
and was attended by the Founding Secretary General
of BHRC, Dr. Saiful Islam Dildar. The program was
conducted by Mirza Shahadat Hossain, Executive
President of Dhaka Metropolitan North Branch. Deputy
Governor of BHRC and General Secretary of Dhaka
Metropolitan South Syed Ajmul Haque, General
Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North Branch Golam
Kibria Mollah, Vice President of Dhaka Metropolitan
South Monirul Islam Monir, Organizing Secretary Md.
Waresh Ali, President of Dhaka Central Region spoke
on the occasion. Joynal Abedin, Mohammadpur Regional

A section of Judges under the banner of Bangladesh
Judicial Service Association form a human chain in
Chattogram city on Saturday protesting vandalism of
an under-construction sculpture of Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Kushtia.

A section of Judges formed human chain at Dampara
area in Chattogram city on Saturday morning
protesting vandalism of an under-construction
sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman in Kushtia.
Later, they brought out a rally from the area which
ended at district Shilpakala Academy after parading
different roads.
District Sessions Judge Md. Ismail Hossain said they
not only do their job, but also take part in the
protest.
Miscreants vandalised the face and some portion of
the right hand of the sculpture of the Bangabandhu
set up at Panch Rasta intersection in Kushtia at
night on December 4.
HC issues 8-point direction for jail authorities
Human Rights Report:
The High Court has
issued an eight-point direction for the prison
authorities, including following the concerned act
thoroughly and stopping the entry of narcotics
inside jail.
A High Court division bench of Justice Md Nazrul
Islam Talukder and Justice Ahmed Sohel issued the
direction in the full text of an order that it had
passed on October 19, Deputy Attorney General AKM
Amin Uddin Manik told BSS.
The High Court on that day had passed the order in
the case, where an accused comes out of jail on
bail, without signature of the concerned deputy
jailor on his vakalatnama.
The court in its order had asked the accused to
surrender before the trial court, within four weeks.
Advocate Md Khurshid Alam Khan argued for the
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), while Deputy
Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik and Assistant
Attorney General Mahjabin Rabbani Dipa stood for the
state during the hearing.
The court in its directions, asked Inspector General
of Prisons, concerned jailor and assistant jailor to
note down name, address of an accused, case number,
concerned section of the act and judgement on the
case and maintain a registrar book.
The jail authorities have to note down the dates of
coming in and going out of jail of an accused, in
that registrar.
The jail authorities have to sign the vakalatnama of
the accused or the convict after following all the
procedures.
By the side of the signature or the seal of the
concerned jail official in the vakalatnama, he has
to write down his name and phone number.
Jail authorities have to be on alert always to
ensure peace and security in jail. The authorities
have to take appropriate steps to stop the supply of
narcotics inside jail.
All the visitors have to be searched thoroughly and
if any illegal items found during the searching,
necessary legal steps have to be taken against him.
The jail authorities have to follow all the
concerned acts including jail act, 1894 and
Bangladesh Jail Code.
The court in its order asked the jail authorities to
submit a report on executing the directions to the
Supreme Court Registrar General, in every three
months.

Biden warned Saturday of "devastating consequences"
if President Donald Trump continues to delay signing
a Covid-19 economic relief bill passed by Congress.
Trump threw a long-awaited pandemic aid package into
doubt last week as millions of Americans prepared to
lose benefits and face eviction - demanding
lawmakers more than triple the $600 direct payments
to US taxpayers. "This abdication of responsibility
has devastating consequences.
Today, about 10 million Americans will lose
unemployment insurance benefits," Biden said in a
statement.
